Xanax

by Melinda Sordino

these are the familiar, the
useless sounds inside my mind,
voices calling my name and i
worry constantly that the
Xanax will take all of
your patience and creativity and
zest. i know that it helps and
alone it is the thing that will
bar the sounds, the
constant, never-ending self-hate and
depression that always seems to
eat away at your insides. the pain
follows you everywhere like a shadow and
gnaws away at your already empty insides
hiding your pain beind a mask and
internalizing pain that can be
justified only by the
knowledge that you can be saved by my
laughter. and even that
may not save you from your
nocternal elements that
only allow you to be
pathetic. and you try so hard to be
quiet while you
roam these
silent streets alone.

Xanax is a terrible drug with some very nasty side effects. This piece has some thought provoking elemants and is very well written. Excellent write!

I was just put on Xanax for my car anxiety. I only take it on long trips in the car, but I could see why people would want to take it recreationally. I don't understand the 'getting hooked' part though. And it's like everything else in this lot in life: moderation is key.

A perfect snapshot. I will have to read another eight times to take it all down like razors.
