Bitterness

by Christopher Shin

It said that those who
do not have a love are bitter,
and can only see the world
without the lack of its
existance.

Yet how ironic this thing
love is to our world.
In the end the love you
you share can not equal
to how much the one you
share affection cares for you.

There will always be the
rift of those who settle,
and those who continue
to want over things they
can never truly have.

How tragic victims of
circumstances they are.
I will not be such a victim.
I would rather rot my mind
with endless pixels or watch
the world spin chaotically
by in my television.

I would let the snow white beauties
fawn over my attention,
yet I will smile a knowing
smile that they can never have me.
I will be to them like a butterfly
who can rarely be seen in these
winter nights.

A mystery and an enigma to those
who will never share my warmth
or taste fully of my lips.
They will never see my tears of grief,
when they leave me for another.
They will only savor the bitter
fruit of my own resentment for
Cupid's power.
