a last breath by Olivia Weinkeinmy sighs do not piece together
silences quite right and the longer
i stand here the more i feel like
i have something to say.
we both know how this goes.
and to me, you appear so small, hands
not quite strong enough to capture the
true meanings behind moments, movements.
a smile that will not go away.
we were birds once, you and i and while
you longed to soar free to unknown lands
i only wanted to stay in one place and eat
the food that they gave me.
now we find truth by way of landmines, always
digging and digging and digging deeper into
the souls of eachother to find something
worth killing our dreams for.
often,i disagree with you and this weather disagrees with me.
we were not built to be anything other than
a temporary distraction to eachother and the
sooner we learn this, the better. but it is
always the better when it is anything but this.
we could have flown a long time ago but i chose
to remain still and when you were not looking,
i chose this for you too.
knowing you would not forgive me in the morning.
