I plan to win the award for "most optimistic".

by Jolie Jordan

People just want to feel something

But boy,
don't you know
that when you're 16
all you feel is liberty
and all that really matters is driving around
listening to whatever is cool at the time
kissing girls who won't remember your name
when they marry someone wealthier than you.

At 18
you're responsible.
Someone who never asks his parents for money
when things get tight
(never say never.)

You're an adult,
but not old enough to drink
(funny, how that works.)
...don't worry though,
your friend will "hook you up",
because that's what friends are for, right?
providing the the liquor to numb,
the drugs to kill braincells?
friends are awesome.

21-
casual fucking with easy girls you met at bars
who won't even remember your name
when they see it under the obituaries in the paper.

Don't look at me that way.
I thought you wanted to feel something.
