Sadness by Aaron Howard
Why is my world so filled with this sadness?
Is that just the bookmark of utter madness?
Is it something that drives you to be alone?
Is it something that drives you to converse by phone?
Do you just find comfort in the sadness knowing it's always there?
Do you shun it off and think of the world without a care?
Do you run around and splash in the mud puddles
or do you just sit around looking befuddled?
Do you wish upon a star and know it won't come true?
Do you think about me as much as I think about you?
Do you dream of me in some far off land
when I dream of you on the beached sand?
A holiday away from life, away from this lingering pain.
Away from all the little things driving me slowly insane,
Away from misery, away from all my inner doubt.
Away from the work force and gaining it's clout
Only here with you, the one I've come to need.
For if longing is hunger, on you I must feed.
I long to be near you when I am away.
I long to talk and hear what you have to say.
I yearn for your kiss when the wind brushes me by
and when I think of you I turn my head to the sky .
I wish on a star to find happiness and love tonight
but I know that's a dream that won't turn out right.
