Back from the dead

by Richard Trotter

Up from the lake,
ascending the mud and fire
I rose to see the sun
elude me once more,
the shimmer of the laughing river
and two jealous Knights
fighting for the favour of One.
I sank to my knees
beetles and dirt on my skin,
alive once again.
