topic: moonlight reflections

by Lindsay Sanders

shimmering: your eyes
catch mine in the night
as though a spotlight is
radiating from your dark-
ly lucent pupils that are
softly etched in your
bright and lustrous face.

you smile upon me
and my jumbled thoughts
tumble out, bathing in the
blue ink of my pen. without
your gentle glimmer, my
words would be not but
the scribblish nonsense
that mulls about in my head.

tonight a part of you is
hiding in the shade of the
night sky, but the tiny sliver that
i can see beams brighter than
a lazorbeam in the utter dark.
every night I wait for you-
like secret lovers are we,
hiding from the scorching day.
melt the sun! in my eyes, your shine
is just as bright, but you don't
burn.

you are

my dearest friend and my
only companion in these
obscure and lonely nights. you
never change; and neither will i

at least not in the dark.

{so hide sun, hide your lucidity
from which we run, like desper-
ate fugitives chasing distant stars
and clandestine dreams.}

Author's Note: topic by kimberly bare.

i have recently been facinated by the night sky, which is showing in my poetry. sometimes i wish we could sleep in the day and live in the night- the sky is so beauitful.

somehow i feel like i always write about the same underlying theme, and i can't even pinpoint what it is. i still feel like my creativity is lacking in this. i almost think it is too redundant and cliche to be posted. but ah well, i posted it anyway so deal with it. :)
