**Topic* empty penny jars

by Kimberly Bare

Grandpa's room
was dark and gloomy
yet filled with treasures
well beyond the comprehension
of a toddler's mind.

Sitting on the edge of my seat
while learning of all the
adventures his life had shown
and the people he had known.

Remembering that
I would walk away in disappointment
that he hadn't had some change to spare.

Took me years to realize
that though the penny jars
were empty,
his heart was always full.
