ankle socks by Brynn Dizacki had a thought this morning comparing this to a headrush
the kind where your head twitches and your brain expands and tries to ooze out your eyesockets
woke up and everything was white
stayed up till five, and
been awake since eight
had to double over and smush my face into the pillow to keep my brain inside
&& when we finally put mittens on and went out we had to dig out your car
and i kept thinking how small it feels to be surrounded by one color,
any color
and then suddenly my black hat was a nonpariel
and you said "get in"
i think ankle socks were a bad decision.
and i'll be the drifts, okay
i need a label today
&& what i wanted to tell you is
i don't really have a problem with snow
if we were all cold-blooded and still
i would be indifferent
withstanding
just coated,
buried
like rooftops
or forests
or concrete
but you are warm
and it is body-heat
that reduces me to puddles and dampened fabric
smears the boundary lines
makes things messy
