Ode to the shy by Richard TrotterLost shielded rulers
of the worlds we own
weaving the words
of strangers we pass
to make us less alone,
polishing up sentences
never to be shown.
Awaiting ascension,
the retrieval of days
crushed by callous clocks
which failed to consider
how the timid mind strays,
where hope and reservation
collide in the yearning gaze.

Posted by Amanda J Cobb on 12/16/03 at 08:45 PM I like this. Well-worded and structured to convey your idea. Love the last 2 lines of each stanza especially. Well-done. |
