quotations

by Nanette Bellman

i have suffered kicks
and smiled at kindness
but i have never been so insulted
in all my life.

crazy mazes,
full of heroes and villains
people who know the beauty of truth
and others who’s beauty is a lie,
shoot down my awakening love.

they lie and bicker.
they make me feel shouldered
with burdens
like having loved ones die.
maybe they’re afraid
of my wildness and youth
and the whirlwinds of self belief
that spin around me
like tsunamis.

they can not strip me
of my promising young talent
for i’ve been truly blessed.
they can step all over my magic realm.
they don’t even have to approve of me.

you know, i do believe in magic.
one day you’ll feel like
you’ve lost something
just seconds of knowing
and remembering
you can’t really get it back.

people lose their way
for one reason or another.
believe me
i lived through it all.
i might be a little better
or worse
for the experience
and you can make up
your own mind which.
