Your So Punk'd...

by J. P. Davies

There are some kids
you can't help but mock
using controller pads
"Now I can skate like Hawk!!"

ten billion wrist bands
and a fake retro-shirt
You're just so punk'd
Gap brand pleated skirt

I just can't believe that punk is a trend
One day playing basketball now thats at an end
He rallies a Clash shirt, she wants to be Avril
These fads give me a headache, won't you pass the advil.

My studded belt is now cliche,
But I don't try to hide it.
Does that board go with your clothes
or can you actually ride it?

Trading in your And 1's for a pair of Globes
Chilling down at the park throwing claims
It makes me sad to see your mohawk
cuz all you do is drop names.

Author's Note: I'm tired of twinkie avril wannabes and preppies wearing Sex Pistols shirts...

lol... you've hit it right on... i'm 28 and blown away at the trendiness of our society... goth used to be shunned, now, if you can chirp out a cruddy pop song, wearing black and bondage belts is cool... same for the punk scene... and boarding used to boarding, not the clothing and how many names you can drop... well said... i still wear what i've always worn, no matter what, but i can also back up the real scene... we need growth, however, i wonder how much true culture is being lost in the material world.. blessings...

now what is funny is when you ask those preps wearing ramones t-shirts what their favorite song is... and most say," I like them all." oh, the fun. Anyway, good poem...
