Couch

by Lacey Smith

Couch 09.17.03

If I am hiding under a sheet
on the couch with the blue static tv
turning my features stark and you
are a drowsy lump on the ground
covered in the yarn of the blanket
from the hall closet, then we are both
for each other and should

pause.

for withdrawl is like the sunshine and
only you can bring me rain.

Author's Note: Often, unintentionally, I find myself loosely copying the style or cadence of e.e. cummings. This poem in particular is an example of that, at least from my perspective. So at least partial credit has to go to cummings.

I'm a huge fan of small poems that pack a punch. I dig this.
