ghostwood (revised) by Rhyana Fisherwithin my head there lies a space
where softly sings the wind
a willow tree weeps silently
a pond collects her tears
swaying reeds rasp in the breeze
while silver minnows dart
just out of sight 'neath rippled light
from lurking rainbow trout
within that space where quiet waits
pine sentinels stand guard
the sun pounds harsh upon the ground
where blades of grass protest
as flowers pray for saving rain
bright faces skyward turned
the droning hum of bumbling bees
accompanies their pass
invisible i hide beneath
the willow's dangling boughs
no human being to jar the scene
no words to mar the melody
i hide beneath the willow tree
to rest, to sleep, to dream12/11/2003 Author's Note: could still use a bit more revision but definitely an improvement.
