i used to be sad

by Ginette T Belle

"now i'm just bored with you"
he says
droning with the melody
a hook through my flesh
not even a scratch

and i agree with him
those boys
now in boxes
can't see for the dust
who used to tease our lust
confusing everything for love
even banana lattes in the morning
seemed to bring orgasmic pleasure

and back home in fantasy land
in the quiet of my urban red sheets
i giggle at the insanity
that i felt and was powerless

now i just drink green tea
and pray that i'm not dead

Author's Note: this is inspired by a ryan adams song called "burning photographs"

Exquisite poem with loads of emotion-laden imagery. "now i just drink green tea and pray that i'm not dead" fantastic ending that really leaves an impression! :)

I agree with max, the last 2 lines are a stab in the heart. Very nice and full of emotion! LOVE IT :)

Not only is the ending poignant and sharp, the title flows into the first stanza to capture the readers attention. Gripping and heartfelt. Excellent work.

Really interesting and nicely done, and yet another thumbs up for those closing lines, it's a strong ending. There's a somewhat disjointed feeling to it in the first stanza and the first few lines of the second, though I think it's an interesting effect for the subject.

Fantastic impact, especially at the end.

I've read a couple of your poems now, and you seem to have this wonderful way of capturing one or two nano-seconds in a lifetime and building an entire picutre of them!!! I am really enjoying reading your work!!!
