You were my oxygen, but now I breathe freely. by Jolie JordanYou speak to me through lost songs
and I remember the bruisingwords
that fell from my mouth
deliberately,
I burnt your insides.
You appear to have disappeared
from here / and now I smile
when you move above the clouds
because I'm not in love with you,
I'm just in love with being in love,
floating from one to the next
never being forever.
I remember pavement against my back
and I remember you like a dream
now I just match a face to a melody
as a heartbreak to a memory
But I just can't reciprocate
when you are 1000 some miles
from here / you looked at me
and saw your escape route,
(but I was only a counterfeit.)
Drowning is a pleasant pastime
until the blue fills your lungs
choking your vocal chords ..
I'll cut you like you want me to
But I'm losing these songs all over again. 12/10/2003 Author's Note: [For William.]

| Posted by Maureen Glaude on 12/10/03 at 12:55 PM I absolutely get this one. It really speaks volumes to me and I'm printing it up. I like how with all the dismissal, sincerely felt, beneath the last lines there seems more. Love or non-love and being in love with falling in love, all a mystery still to me. |
| Posted by Max Bouillet on 12/10/03 at 07:52 PM Incredible word play... loving oneself and being in love with being in love the recipient ever-changing.... great concepts and wonderful images. Great read. |
