Life

by Thomas K. Hunt

The sun just turned the moon on
Another day has come and gone
The hours just seem to drift away
Everthing's the same but differing
A subtle denature unrecognizable
A constant flow in full swing
Yet so intangible

The seconds passing by
Form the lines on my face
Like miles that lead
To where I've been
Weathered road maps
That stretch from place to place
That were not there
When I began this endless journey
That has an end

Brilliant is definitely a good word. An examination of life day-by-day all in one moment, which is a fascinating way to express the theme of the poem beyond just the words.

Weathered Roadmaps. What a powerful visual. This verse really speaks to all those that deal with mortality. Great crafting.

The first line was remarkable, as was the whole poem. The last stanza was especially powerful, lovely imagery. Sam xxx
