Reaching for the moon by Amy NiggelYou were a child of dawn
and I, a mistress of night.
We simply were not meant to be
what we are to be.
To touch you
would fade your beauty
mar your light
destroy your energy.
You should become dark as I am.
So I do not seek to touch you.
Though I wake one evening
to find you wanting of my touch. 12/06/2003 Author's Note: "The moon is reaching for me"

| Posted by H.M Stevens on 12/06/03 at 09:19 PM Hi- Amy. I really like this poem. I had to write because of undeniable irony. I just posted a poem on the moon as well...a common theme no doubt... just a bit odd that i happen to click on the ten most recent posted poems to find "reaching for the moon." Anyhoo, nice work...I think this speaks in allegorical style...using symbolism...reading it a few times over, there is a new theme that appears each time... |
