Lay Back Easy

by Thomas K. Hunt

I’ve been dreaming lately
Faces in my sleep
Images that I hold on too
Memories that I keep

I’ve been looking lately
Gazing at what’s all around
I don’t recognize a thing
Can’t tell up from down

And I’ve been hurting lately
Nothing seems to help
I know the way I’m feeling
Long to feel the way I felt

I’ve been living lately
Thinking about the end
Am I living with purpose?
Do you really think I can?

And I’ve been dying lately
With every breath I take
This skeleton that lives inside me
Can’t wait to make his break

I’ve been praying lately
Wishing for that edge
Searching for my salvation
Oh lord, my knees are red

I’ve been dancing lately
Turn and lose my moves
Kicking up the dust around me
Settle for the tune I choose

I’ve been laughing lately
What’s the sense of it all?
I’ll just lay back easy
Have myself a ball

first stanza is awesome...that's what drew me...the stanza that starts "i've been dying lately..." is great as well...the ryhming works...the rest of the stanzas are not as powerful as those two but...it altogether it's actually pretty good

wow, 77! It's quite amazing that you would still have a song from 77. And a brilliant one at that, each stanza flows into the next which is incredibly hard to do. Nice, you should record an mp3 and play it to me! I wanna hear!
