The Light by Dana E BrossardA single candle was lit,
And in the darkness,
It showed its worth.
Hope sprung to life
Before his eyes.
As all who wished for Peace,
Joined in the war against Hate.
First the One,
Then two then three and more,
Candles began to light night.
The people spoke of war to come,
Believing naught its angry cry,
Yet still the light shone true.

Posted by Maureen Glaude on 12/06/03 at 02:47 PM when the war was threatening to come about, my neighborhood had a candle lighting and prayer and song service outside, kids and adults, and this reminded of that night. Beautiful. |
