Topic: Censored Free Speech

by Trisha De Gracia

Waiting there at the windowside
your wav'ring breaths are clouding up the glass
and your tainted voice is choking back your vows.

But what can I say to earn you back?
My timid footstep's trying vainly
not to crush your sense of 'self'
or worse
your sense of 'us.'

(If
by chance
I miss this step
then I've missed everything...)

Again you're looking through me
as I make my way to your front door.

Tell me how to tell you everything that's in my head
without saying "I Love You."
