Fell On You (violent content)

by Jersey D Gibson

Darling, could you tell me a bedtime story,
one you told so long ago.
One where the good guys win, and gets the girl,
and everyone's home happy.

Darling, could you tell me to sleep tight,
and everything's alright.
I had another bad dream, it was about you,
just tell me I'm wrong.

You're gone so long,
and I'm so alone,
why can't I seem to be happy?

Go with your friends,
don't wait on me,
we can't seem to see changes.

Darling, could you tell me not to worry,
it's just a silly rumor.
People talk, and you know they always do,
I just depend on you.

Darling, could you tell me not to fear,
that perfume's meant for me.
Seems you've been getting home later and later,
why do I feel misery?

The flame's gone so long,
and we're so alone,
what do you do to be happy?

Sit in the dark,
that's where I'll be,
or is that where you left me?

Darling, could you tell me you love me,
I feel the kick in your womb.
Why do I know this is another man's child?
I know the reason isn't me.

Darling, could you tell me what to do,
there's blood on my hands.
I swear I didn't hit you with that hammer,
it sort of fell on you.

Your warmth's gone so long,
and I'm still alone,
behind these prison bars.

Sit in the jail,
plea bargain for my life,
when did my happiness escape me?

Wow! I wasn't ready for the 10th stanza!
