topic: i paid the pied piper with monopoly money by Rachelle Howei pawned your heart for
two singles.
each new revelation
shows me just how
bitter and pretentious
you've become.
i could dance upon
the graves of my ancestors,
and still, it would reveal
no loose charms.
you'd snicker and upturn your nose.
but darling, i've been shaking
up your shadow.
your words mean little more
than a subway ticket.
after all, i've been
wandering along your memories,
each tune sung and stolen.
i've glanced along yesterdays,
and paid the pied piper
with monopoly bills.
