the and poem. by Olivia Weinkeinmaybe it is harder than we think to
escape the aftermath of sun dried tomatoes
and whispers in the dark.
your blanket wasn't warm enough to keep
you.
my hands were always so cold.
and it's been a long day.
we burn as we sway and just
when we think it's safe enough
to come out of ourselves,
someone turns another light on.
and you held out your hands but i was
caught up in leaving. and it was for good.
and i couldn't help but mean it
and everything i am collapsed inside of your
breathing. and all of the daydreams that
get stuck in my eyes from here on out
will never change that.
because i cannot roll with the tides
and you cannot help but drown
inside them.
11/25/2003 Author's Note: blame this lil ditty on writer's block. i have no other excuses.

someone turns another light on...yes, so true......
and everything i am collapsed inside of your
breathing...and, and, despite, despite....beautiful, tragically beautiful. a lovely, honest piece of work.
