I understand it all
and I'm sorry I didn't sooner.
If I had
I might have saved myself
from some or all of the blow.


It's a 1 + 2 + 3 thing
that never equals
S I X
In that I knew it in my head
somewhere lodged
between these dusty files that break when opened roughly
for the millionth time
but are never wiped clean
the answer was staring me in the face
and tapping it's foot,
in theory.

But I'm getting ahead of myself.


It started with 1.

2 came along.
3 came along.
BANG! Catastrophe,
everything flew and sang and cried
together in circles holding hands
and you should know
that 12 is not a prime number.

That doesn't mean you rip the 1 from the 2.
On the other hand 13 tends to be unlucky.
So odd together...

1
+3
=
13.

It almost makes sense when you look at it that way.
But just the same
you can't pull 'em apart
because where'd you be without that odd coupling?
12 woulda smacked into 14 a long time ago...
1 and 3 need to bumper the space-
that is
assuming that 14 is in the question.
We could call 14 the variable.

I'm ahead of myself again...

The point is I didn't get it earlier
and didn't find salvation from any of the blow
and now after all the rough work on the looseleaf
after checking and rechecking all my answers
I can say with proof to back me up
That honestly, I've never excelled at math.
