Pink Moon, Brown Sky

by Trisha De Gracia

I took a picture then
You never knew
And never will know
But I did it.

I was the cause of that twist of your mouth.
That yawning pink moon,
The delicate corners both straining
To meet your two ears
And boldly creasing the skin
In a way so foreign to your stony face
I'm surprised you didn't fissure.

Ah, my Magnum Opus.
Yes, my greatest work of art.
You'll never know my satisfaction
On seeing you laugh
At your very own smile.

Author's Note: It made my heart leap. Seriously. I've seen this person in alot of pain... this made me feel so good.

Its sweet that the speaker of this poem wanted to capture the person's smile so badly. I also like the detail that was went into about the actual smile

Incredible imagery to define such an important moment! Fantasic read that created a fissure on my face too. :)

So creative, especially the second stanza. I'm an honest fan of poetry that looks at something common in an entirely new context, and you did this breathtakingly successfully. I'm not entirely sure I get the "brown sky" in the title, but the startling and refreshing image you create makes me oh-so-glad I read this. :-)
