Peace

by Dana E Brossard

Peace
The wholeness that surrounds oneself,
The gentle breeze of loving words,
A warm embrace to sooth my fears,
Being there to lift my heart.

War
The demons rage for me,
Panic and fear swell in me,
I look for escape,
Seek it with all my might,
Paranoia clutching at my heart.

Hope
You rest your hand upon my shoulder,
Looking up I see you now,
Bathed in light with sword in hand,
You strike down my demons,
And chase away the night.

Trust
I can relax now and hold close,
Knowing that no longer need I fear,
For you are with my always,
I love you, my Darling Sunshine.

the contrasts so vividly spelled out here. Every one of them powerful in the poetry.
