Cliches Suck... by J. P. DaviesI am just a styereotype
spouting cliches at you
"Our back's are against the wall"
well if your back is against the wall
that means it's impossible to be pushed farther
unless I push you through the cheap pressboard
that is your proverbial wall...
"We just need to take it a day at a time"
Well if we do that what is our goal?
and how do we know if we're even going the right way?
"It's the little things that count"
So I guess that means ten-billion of our little things
will add up to as much as their huge things right?
because people will notice the small noises we make
when everyone else is screaming...
"There are plenty more fish in the sea"
but if your bait ain't tasty enough is one gonna bite?
or maybe one will just jump into your boat
if you want it bad enough...right?
"Good things come to those who wait"
So I'm just gonna sit here and hope everything will get handed to me.
This could definitely take a while...
"No news is good news"
Unless the messenger is dead..in which case bad news is definitely on the way...
"When life passes you lemons, make lemonade"
Unfortunetly to make lemonade life also has to pass you some sugar...
"When it rains, it pours"
So buy an umbrella and stop coming to me with your dried up used cliches. Stop pretending everything's alright...embrace your trials... 11/17/2003 Posted on 11/17/2003 Copyright © 2024 J. P. Davies

Posted by Trisha De Gracia on 11/18/03 at 02:31 AM to contrast, I think the readers won't have a hard time figuring out what you mean. Your illustrating the effect overused phrases have on people with real problems, and showing the gaps in those overworked cliches. |
