fathom

by Ginette T Belle

i wish i could trust you
but the indigio sky is too weak
to carry the heavy, liquid-filled clouds
separating the earth beneath us
from the steaming chai heavens

too mystical i am
sitting right there with them
on candle lit, red silk patios
and chocolate raspberry desserts

the ring
there waiting to be eaten
loyal...eternity fixed on a cashmere pillow

Well, i think Hugh has a good grasp on this piece! I think it's wonderful, a great display of distrust no matter the reason.

Highly effective imagery that paints a superb backdrop for these words of wisdom. Great read.

Trust is such an elusive thing. But you can trust your inner voices, because they seem to be right on. Are you listening to them? Oh, and I agree with James about the 4th line edit suggestion.

Nice poem Ginette. I agree the last, "I just wish I could trust you" could be left out...Charlie
