Sad sad Soul

by Thomas K. Hunt

Sad sad soul
Wandering about this town
Misery and pain call him by name
They follow him around

Dark dark night
The stars refuse to shine
The rhythm of the blues plays its tune
Darkness dances in his mind

Cold cold feeling
In the middle of July
The cold wind blows through his tattered clothes
The tears fall from his eyes

Sad sad soul
The hurt just won't let go
It tugs at his heart and rips it apart
To form an empty hole

Misty misty shadows
There, he'll run and hide
Slivers of life cut like a knife
They bleed him from inside

Empty empty memories
So empty and alone
Clinging to a dream of silvers streams
He's sinking like a stone

Sad sad soul
Life just passes him by
He'll roam alone searching for a home
Until the day he dies

from the first two lines I was singing the poem in my mind as a blues song as I read, and you didn't even reveal that until line 7! very good job with setting the tone, and carrying through the rhythm and pure blues in a dark nightclub feel

There is indeed a blues feeling to this, also one of deep sorrow. I doubt seriously if anyone who has loved and lost... could not identify with this. As one who has been there a time or two... someday, when least expected... the sun will shine again. The hurt, ah... that never really leaves, just becomes muted, alowing peace.

Sadness and melancholy permeate this splendid verse. It is very emotion-filled and soul sharing. Great read.
