The Breaking Point

by J. P. Davies

V1: Do you ever doubt
that it had to end this way?
when you were hoping to get taken
for the proverbial ride yesterday

My lies are reflected
in the tears on your cheek
That you cried and you cried
I cried too that week

PC: Yah seeing you rotting
and knowing I caused it
is the breaking point...

C: You were the one who was always so careful
to tell me you loved me when I was so fearful
And you were the one with my heart after all
but it's over and over again now...

V2: Do you ever think
we could make it right now?
could you look me in the eyes
and tell me your proud?

Yah I made it without you
but I'm here because
of your tearing and beating me
up with your love

PC: Cuz seeing you smiling
and now I can't cause it
well it might just
be the breaking point...

C:
V3: And your heart was wide open
when I viciously stabbed it
made a fool of your love
you were so sure you had it

As your truck tires spun
in my gravel-filled soul
leaving permanent tread-marks
and seeping black holes

V4: will you know that my mind
is always turned to you
if my heart can't face you
it will have to do

She the one who escaped
or the one I set free?
when it all falls apart
it keeps raining on me

And knowing your fine now
and I just can't take it
I tell you it must
be the breaking point...
