This Familiar Play

by J. P. Davies

V1: This familiar play
is voicing doubts
where you don't let me in
yet I can't get out

and I'm fighting for air
that you've already used
laying here bledding,
tortured and abused

When you show how deep
this obsession can get
I react with the white flag
submit and frorfeit

cuz this dagger
you dig deeper into my side
is matched only by
those that shoot from your eyes

meeting my gaze
with frightening calm
and it just may be
that I knew all along

C: That the one thing that I took from you
was the one thing you couldn't get back
and as I look very deep to the pits of your eyes
I can never say I'm sorry for that

V: Because the time that we shared
was worth pain and torment
and I never could lay down
and just be dormant

I'm a dasher by nature girl
you should have known
that I'd run when you
tore my heart out over the phone

And said it's ok
if I don't want to visit
and the tone of you voice
said "Don't you know I'm exquisite?"

And I did in my heart
but you couldn't believe
that your understanding
kinda forced me to leave

when it became alright
to be pissed off at you
and take you for granted
girl swear that it's true

C:
Outro: The one thing I took and you couln't get back
Yah, I'll never tell you I'm sorry for that

The one thing I took and you couldn't get back
Yah, I'll never say that I'm sorry...

Author's Note: New song...kinda inspired by listening to Dashboard Confessional and Taking Back Sunday all day...

Wow... you're really getting a knack for this. I can't wait to hear it.
