xoxo

by Trisha De Gracia

And just when I thought
that nothing you ever did
would ever surprise me
ever again
you kissed me.

Now
looking into your compelling eyes,
the music of 6 billion other beings
hushes in quiet anticipation.
The floor dissolves and I float
high on your smile
with my fingers sliding down your face
(I almost want to cry-
instead, I grin
and hold you tighter.)

This is the reoccurring moment
when words do not exist
There are no words...
only lightness and summer warmth
in November.

This is when everything comes to a peak
and I feel the world
spinning cold drops of molasses under my feet.
This is what words can't describe.
This...

I want to kiss you like I'll never be able to say:

It's not just the way you touch me.
It's not just the way you smile
or laugh.
It's more
it's deeper.
It's never wanting you to cry
or ever hurt again.
It's my joy at just knowing you.
It's how you're so far from perfect you make it an art
how I'm so at ease around you
like there are no mistakes
and even if there were
who's keeping score?

I love you.
It won't go away
it won't stop
it never stopped
no matter how hard I tried you shake you out of my head
I can't
I give up.

This is the ever-evolving instant
where I realize
that all I ever want to do
now or ever again
is kiss you back.
