Incognito

by Karen Michelle

Sinking into silverlined songs, I trace your name on my cherry blossom lips. You never sing to me sing to me sing to me. My arms are filled with hearts and crossbones and broken dreams. And you promised me you'd magic marker me a

smile
though your heart is
aching

smile
even though it's
breaking

when there are clouds
in the sky
you'll get by

Tomorrow's come and gone and the colours on my walls are fading into you. The electricity's out but I'll let you violate me in the darkness. Again and again. Until you forget yourself. Until you remember what it's like to lovelovelove me. Let me trace you all the way down in the blackness of this oubliette. Eyelids. Lips. Tongue. Neck. Chest. Arms. Fingertips. I'll draw us into one into the comfort of our invisible brokenheart-shaped box. But I won't wear your disguises anymore.

I'd rather be your secret than your lie...

You're beautiful. That is all.
