Presence

by Scott Cadence

You woke up from a dead sleep
Looking quickly to the door, the window, and then over to me
I saw the relief in your body
as you laid your frame back down

It was too dark to tell that I wasn’t sleeping
that I witnessed how fragile you are from dreams
And now your actions have me up and writing again
Amazed that something so simple – so human
Can bring back this much
How safe we feel in one-another’s arms

And I am given a chance to witness it

Yes- it is the little things that matter. You captured the moment perfectly, and perfectly set it free. Funny how we are the most honest with each other in those fleeting, timeless moments between dreaming and waking.
