Pieced Together for a Picnic (Revised)

by Cathlyn Cartier

Blueberry thread passes through the eye of the needle.
The buzzing voice of machinery drones;
Mother adds a splash of orange to the patchwork she’s piecing.

The project finished…
A conglomeration of family history;
Packed carefully into a basket;
Unfurled upon the soil at cliff’s edge.
Witness the silent waltz of clouds
Across a crimson sky…
An evening’s repast in nature.
