Youthful Perfection and Pain

by J. P. Davies

Greet me
beat me
find me inside of you
you speak in words
that are just make-believe
threats and jeers
Never good enough
keep plotting, stabbing
break me
take me
Jump off this cliff
take pain and fly it to ground
you bleed tears from my eyes
with the cuts and lashes
your toungue inflicts
lacing my hide
with scars and burns
that never heal
but ooze like souls
in mist and mire
cleave me
leave me
You sit just out of reach
tormenting me
floating and hovering
a hangnails length
from my outstretched hand
dancing always just there
as more lights flash in your eyes
than in the sky on any night
for a million years
Still my muscles, tendons
stretch out for you
Show me
know me

This is painful and beautiful. So so so well done. as more lights flash in your eyes than in the sky on any night for a million years. <- superb.

I like how you keep referring to the same sort of words as your first two lines throughout the poems. "greet me/beat me" , "Break me/take me" etc.
