you crushed me (just the same)

by Daryl Fein

you can't drag me down with you,
this raft has been built for one,
I lost myself in you,
no excuse for a love deluge,

I wouldn't see the truth,
a certain lack of empathy,
I'm a sensitive soul,
why not mislead me,

after all,
I fell for you when I shouldn't,
I believed in things you couldn't,
no need to ruin a friendship too,
we were congruent lines,
heading to opposing sides,

you can never really be happy,
I see the basis of you're pain,
I would have been the purist solution for you,
but you'd crush me just the same,

you did crush me, just the same,
weeping, alone we remain.

damn, this is brilliant too... who would have thought... excellent conveyance of feeling... and the rhyme scheme, tone and flow is perfect... blessings
