Awakening

by Jane E Pearce

Psst!
Is that really you?
"Yes."
You look so young!
"So do you."
How can it be?
We were so weathered
last time we met.
"In this land, we wear
the face of our
favorite years."
How nice-but everything
is so alien to me here.
" Come, I'll show you
around the place.
It's very lovely."
Are we alone?
"No there are many, many
living here. You may
already know some of them."
What does everybody do here?
"Anything they want."
Can we still play
the piano and dance?
"Whenever we wish.
There is lots of music
and laughter. Oh,
here comes someone you know."
Mom-Dad, how wonderful
to see you.You look
so well. Oh,I see friends
waving to me. I've missed
everyone so much.
Do you love here?
I mean, can you see my heart?
"Yes."
Then you know?
Yes,I"ve been waiting
for you."
It feels like I've gone
to Heaven!
"You have."

A fresh perspective of Heaven. I especially like the ending beginning with "I mean... ."
