second wind by Devon E MattysShe tries, testing the air with tender fingertips--
Is it ready? Is it time?--
A slow wind blows south, and she closes her eyes against it.
Deeply breathe, know the air
before you begin,
test it, taste it, let it settle in its wind.
She turns with near reluctance to her pen:
she lifts, she holds, she tries again.

Posted by Elizabeth Jill on 01/15/06 at 06:56 PM So perfect this poem is in it's vividness, that I feel I'm inside the author, experiencing each :: step ::by :: step :: moment :: I love *second wind* an immediate "favorights" for me, and well-deserving of POTD, Devon :) congratulations, and write on! :) —JiLL |
Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 01/15/06 at 11:26 PM I feel this is "deja vu" ah...the best compliment to a poem... "yes, I have been here before...this is me too!" I love the wind in the sails feeling of this... the pose... the finger ... the
pen as the guage, and then...plunging in...sailing off again! I love the surprise element at the end. |
