the old man across the road

by Olivia Weinkein

there is a man who lives across the road from
me. he is old and has suffered one or more
strokes. he drinks bourban and coke and
turns his tv up so loud i can hear it from my
front door.
sometimes he leaves, goes somewhere.
sometimes he stays right at home.
once in awhile, he gets a visitor.
most of the time he is alone.
or atleast i think he is alone but occasionally
at night, i can hear him talking.
i've never taken the time to really listen to
what it is he says though.
perhaps that is why he is alone most of the time.
perhaps noone else ever bothers to
either.

All too realistic and honest observation on life. A touch sad. Great read.
