I know that there are many
whos and whats and
especially whys
in the world
that I am still ignorant of.
There are things I know
that I don't understand
and of course I realize
that I am infinitely far
from knowing everything.

But matters of right and wrong,
in most cases,
don't require me to be all-knowing.
Nor do they require some version
of an All-Knowing Being
to explain it to me,
or dictate absolute laws
that don't admit to shades of gray.

It is simply felt
as an instinctual revulsion,
a twinge of unease
in the muscles of my mind
and the center of my gut,
and a chorus of voices on my shoulders
all combining to form one resounding
NO.
