kim by Emily G Myersmy only sister
I have her lips
she has all that
I want to have
& has made the best
of every moment
she knew when to let him go
when he was drunk
& she was sleeping alone
she knew when to leave herself
when he was drunk
& and left her eye black
strongest woman I know &
related to me?
but she is so...

& I love her
I won't forget
all she's done
all she's endured
she gives me hope
my sister did it
I can do it too 10/27/2003 Author's Note: there isn't enough in this poem to do my sister justice. she has gone through so much in her life and still has the sweetest personality. there is a huge age difference... 15 years, actually, but we still relate. I remember when we went to the movies once together... I don't remember what movie we saw, but I remember a man saying we were both so beautiful and were we friends? no, sisters, kim said. he couldn't believe it. we don't look too much alike... except our lips. but I remember the time for how accepted I felt. my sister was the popular girl; I was not. but regardless of our differences, we have always managed to stay close... deep down, we understand each other.

Posted by Maureen Glaude on 10/28/03 at 12:35 AM lovely, and the concrete portion very effective. What would we do without sisters? Size and shape isn't important, it's the size of heart that counts |
