the pretty girls
with straight, shiny hair
gold & silver dripping from
ears & necks & fingers & bellybuttons
expensive tee shirts
tight in the chest
jeans that come already frayed & faded
uncomfortable shoes
with painted toenails peeking out
but I can't see their faces for masks of makeup
