boys wearing sideways caps
with flat bills
gold grilles
and pants so baggy they walk spread-eagle to keep them up
jerseys in all the primary colors
moonman shoes
in colors that match
that they keep in the original boxes in their closets
bandanas or du rags or stocking caps
hair in braids
or fades
and necklaces with bright beads
and Africa hanging from them

Author's Note: it just struck me to write a sort of ethnography in poem form. maybe I'll make a series describing people I see around campus?
