The things you write when you're in love with a heroin addict.

by Aaron Blair

My dreams still speak
in razor tongue,
sometimes long for you.

I would have been
a needle,
just to get inside your skin.

It's still burning,
but now I have to look away,
so I can hide it from myself.

Author's Note: It's sad when it's only three stanzas and you still managed to derail on the last one.

Startling and vivid; wonderful metaphor.

not derailed, just not as strong as the first two which are, you know, poignant and other good things.

*chuckles.* god, i know that feeling. let it come. *tilts her head.* i think you could add, or subtract, and make it just as strong.

Great read. this is a little off topic, but have you by any chance seen the movie 'requiem for a dream'? if not, check it out. though it is a bit disturbing, let this be your warning:)

the second stanza is so strong in and of itself. just amazing.

how true your words are... excellent imagery on a disturbing subject... blessings...

"I would have been a needle, just to get inside your skin." yes yes yes! and i think i know what you mean with the last stanza. it's not quite as 'mack truck tough' as the other two. you should go with the burning aspect, since i've heard that heroin has that feeling. keep the analogy going. good job putting so much into such a small poem.

I agree with Michele- a very distubing subject, but powerful write. Excellent write!
