Finding

by Beth K Hannah

And we ran through the eons,
The shrouded stars
Dropping bits of shine and sparkle
Through our hair.
You eyes were ever reminding
Of all that ancient history
I keep unearthing and pouring through
In an attempt to explain the vicissitudes of life.

I can understand why I can't fall in love
With the promise of a magnificent rose on the horizon
Or some great hero making me wish I was in distress,
Somedays, not even a tsunami could break my feet.

Once again, you move your hands through mine,
Encouraging me to stay and be my own light.
I explain about my selfish dedication,
My human sacrifices to my mirror,
And my inability to be more than a theme song.

Summer nights are inescapable,
The morning after the most beautiful gems
I could ever let collect dust.
In your heart I see a star of ash
And my own skin is wrapped in an evening song.
This indescribable after taste
Makes me wish for an eternity of searching.

Oh yes you are my dear. But we won't hold it against you...until at least five years into the future:)
