I want to see you tonight
to let you know
that everything will be ok in the end
that this is just a passing thing
and it will all break soon.
I want to speak to you tonight
face to face
so you can see in my eyes
that I am not lying
and that I do believe in you
and your ability to do anything in the world.
I want to hold you tonight
so you can believe
that you will make it through
that this isn't going to be the thing that breaks you
that you are intelligent
and talented
and needed
and above all else you are loved.
I want you tonight
so that I may do for you
what you have done for me a million times
I want to soothe your fears
calm your temper
and let you rest again.
You are not in this alone,
not even tonight.
