Remote control

by Laura Doom

She speaks to him
of a future past
her frozen voice in meltdown
from a blaze of celebration

He vows to respect
her will to let go
but her blood-line insists
on extending her life-line

And way overhead
a political cloud
obliterates heaven
in divine intervention

---

The virtual preserve
of intelligent design
enshrined in a principle
framed in self-righteousness...

Life
as yet undefined
[beyond Death Row]
is sacrosanct

Immaculate Faith
the sublime misconception
of a god who takes sides
in the manner of mortals
?

Author's Note: Based upon one BBC news report (text in journal) - it's now obvious to me that most of you reading this will know more about it than I do - an emotive, well-publicised case, involving myriad personal and financial issues & implications. The 'moral dilemma' the case represents, one confronted by an ever increasing number of families, was the intended subject of this singular viewpoint.
