A Sailing Trip

by Christopher Shin

I place a sail as
the cool breezes blows
through this small vessel.
I try to force a smile,
but each muscle in my face
begs to frown.

I touch the warm waters
and wonder if it would
be easier to sail with
the tide rather then
against it.

Sometimes I ponder if
the world is but a huge
ocean of turmoil and discord?
Other times I ponder if
I would find peaceful
waters and a company
to end the loneliness.

A majority of my time I
just sail through this
small channel that veins
out into the world around me.
With my small vessel and
the cool wind on my back.

It wasn't always so cool you know.
But I think it has to do with
a new cut that has opened and
let the air flow out into the world.
I'm traveling to a new world you see.
No more warm rivers, lakes, or oceans.

Only cool rivers as it drips out
into the cold hard cement floor.
At first I hear that the river used
to be blue in the old days,
but now it's red and salt.
Like a tear in a maiden's eye.

I sail to uncharted adventure as the body
pores out it's river onto the cold
cemented ground.
